What does the emergency measures volunteer team do?
The emergency measures team is made up of volunteers from various communities who care about the well-being of their fellow residents. Volunteers log more than 4,500 hours annually to carry out various actions related to civil protection or emergency situations. Examples of their actions:
- Collaborate with the police and fire departments, by deploying command posts, ensuring that they function properly, and transporting materials.
- Assist the police department with searches for children lost during large-scale events.
- Monitor rivers during spring freshets.
- Assist residents during disasters.
- Cooperate during training activities.
- Distribute information to residents.
Admission criteria
- Be 18 years old or older (ideally with no professional engagement).
- Be in good physical condition.
- Be a resident of Laval.
- Hold a valid class 4A driver’s license.
- Have no criminal record.
- Be available to respond to emergencies during the day, the evening, at night and on weekends.
